The Moineau wire free bratop sewing pattern is beginner friendly and features just 2 pattern pieces, making it a quick and satisfying sew. Choose between a racerback or a leotard back for two completely different looks. Underbust darts provide gentle shaping and lift, while wide underband elastic keeps everything comfortable and supportive all day long.
With endless fabric options — stretch lace, mesh, Lycra, jersey — every Moineau you make will be unique.

The exact amount of materials that you’ll need for Moineau will depend on your size and which version you will make.
Required materials:
- 50 cm x 70 cm (½ yd x ¾ yd) mesh, jersey, tricot, stretch lace, powernet. The DOGS should be 70 cm. If using stretch galloon lace, it should be at least 20cm wide (8”), and you’ll need 1 meter (1.1 yd). 1.4 m (1 ½ yd) foldover elastic (FOE)
- 35mm-wide (1¼”) plush back elastic: for size 32 65 cm (¾ yd) , for size 48 115 cm (1¼ yds)
- Optional: 1 hook and eye closure , same width as underband elastic

This is the best bralette pattern I have ever tried, and I have tried so many. So minimal, with very few seams to annoy the skin, but surprisingly supportive without flattening. I tried on clothes that I can only wear with certain bras because of the dart position and this pattern works on my very relaxed breasts… In fact, it works as well as others I’ve made with slings and other bits and bobs which took forever. Highly recommended.
